The Digital Scot represents the creation of Scotland’s newest digital marketers and the development of their digital skills. We are currently students at Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, on the brand new MSc Digital Marketing course. Since September we have been learning the essential skills that are required to be modern marketers, and the knowledge that the digital industry is seeking. We have worked hard to learn a broad range of digital skills including SEO, Analytics, email and social marketing, mobile, video creation and web design.
We have had the advantage of not just being taught digital skills in a classroom, but have been given the opportunity to develop and use them whilst working with a range of live clients. Our local Aberdeen clients have various backgrounds including education and charitable organisations, and we have helped them by developing digital marketing strategies and creative deliverables. This hands-on approach has given us the opportunity to experience what it is like to use these skills in a professional setting.
Working with leading digital marketing agencies
During the year we have also supplemented our learning with regular guest speakers from within the industry. We have been fortunate enough to work with leading digital marketing agencies such as moment.agency, Mission10, and Fifth Ring. Their experience has benefited us in many ways and has made us determined to be the best at what we do.
We have created The Digital Scot as part of our degree to allow us to continue to develop our digital skills. As part of this project, we each have our own assigned role within a mock digital marketing agency, allowing us to work together to make The Digital Scot a success. We are here to give our perspective on modern marketing in Scotland and to share our enthusiasm, so that as many people as possible can learn about the potential of a career in Digital Marketing.
