David Westby

Where are you from?
Sittingbourne, Kent.

What was your undergraduate degree?
International Development with Social Anthropology and Politics with Overseas Experience (Potentially the longest degree title ever), University of East Anglia.

Why did you decide to study an MSc in Digital Marketing?
I really enjoy the idea of being able to pursue a career doing something practical, creative, and flexible. Therefore, being able to acquire the theory, whilst also building practical skills and experience is a great way to kickstart a career in digital marketing.

What do you like best about the course so far?
I love the fact that the course is so up to date and relevant, and that from the very beginning of the course you are working on real client briefs. Another great feature of the course is having guest lecturers that give you unique insights into the world of digital marketing.

I have particularly enjoyed learning about digital strategy and specifically Google Analytics, Search Engine Optimisation as well as more technical aspects such as HTML and CSS.

What’s your favourite app or website, and why?
I am a big fan of running and the Strava App is the perfect running companion. The App tracks your routes, speed and heart rate, and enables you to compare yourself against your previous runs and against your mates.

Tell us a random fact about yourself!
Back in 2014, I spend three months living with a family in Tajikistan and at one point found myself being interviewed on national television in Tajik (despite not being able to speak the language at all).
