Easter at The Digital Scot

Hello! Calum here, Content Manager at The Digital Scot, with this weeks rundown of what’s been happening here at The Digital Scot HQ.  It may be the Easter holidays but work goes on for us, after the successful soft launch last week.

One of our main activities this week was an afternoon of media production.  We shot a short introduction film so our viewers can meet the team. This was the second shoot for us as, on the first attempt, the unpredictable Aberdeen weather ruined the shoot and caused us to reschedule. This was a blessing in disguise because on take two we were able to use the TV studio here at the university. This meant we had full access to the former STV news set which contained professional lighting and equipment. No rain would stand in our way now.

Team Building Experience

Having the entire group together, we also took the opportunity to get some more photos for The Digital Scot website. I had reviewed the entire site and blog, and created a list of images that were necessary to enrich the current content. We quickly got the requirements out of the way, and used the rest of our time building a portfolio of images that we can use in the future. Despite it ending up being a long day at ‘School’ it was a fantastic team building experience and everyone had a lot of fun… especially with the not so serious photos.

We have also started work on the next phase of the Content Strategy, mainly concentrating around the “Get Involved” section. Over the last few weeks Helen, in the Acquisition Team, has been contacting companies that we have worked with over the year. We are currently compiling the information into an exciting strategy ready to roll out when we return to class.

The Digital Scot Newsletter Launch

Meanwhile, we are also building and strengthening social media presence. Our Social Manager, Catherine, is busy monitoring and engaging with social audiences on a daily basis. She makes out like its hard work, but really she loves it. She recently started a social campaign profiling each member of our team, which is proving to be very popular content! Also in the Engagement and Retention Team is Neil, our Email Marketing Manager. The first Digital Scot “Welcome” newsletter was sent out this week to our current subscribers.  Remember you can sign up to our newsletter if you want to be the first to know what has been happening at The Digital Scot and for the latest Digital Industry news.  Neil is now working on the second email with other Engagement and Retention Team members.

Lukas our Analytics Manager has been busy ‘tweeking’ his metrics following digitalmarketing.scot going live, ensuring that we are extracting the most accurate and relevant data to highlight what is engaging our audience.  This gives us the opportunity to make decision about future content based on the facts.

That is about it from me this week.  Be sure to like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter, so that you can get a sneak previews of what the team here The Digital Scot get up to on a daily basis.
