Holyrood’s Digital Skills for Graduates Event taking place in Edinburgh on the second of June will bring together key influencers in digital and education. The event highlights the need for skilled graduates and will also address what is currently being done to tackle the digital skills gap.
The Current State of the Industry
Scotland’s digital economy is booming and the industry is experiencing huge growth. Digital is increasingly becoming more data focused and is undergoing major shifts in channels and technologies. Several new digital job roles are set to be created. Year on year this demand will only continue to grow. However, the reality is that the majority of today’s graduates do not have the skills needed to succeed in the sector.
The Future of the Sector
Digital is fast-paced and the challenge for those in the industry is to keep up with the rate of change. If Scotland is to become a world class leader in digital by 2020 the skills gap must be addressed. The aim of the graduate digital skills event is to understand why this gap has occurred, and to discuss possible solutions.
