Lillian Small

Where are you from?
Toronto, Canada

What was your undergraduate degree?
BASc Chemical Engineering, University of Toronto

Why did you decide to study an MSc in Digital Marketing?
I became interested in digital marketing after creating my personal blog.  As an expat spouse, I move from country to country and I was looking for a portable career I could bring with me wherever I go.  Studying at RGU was my opportunity to make the most of my time in Aberdeen and officially change careers.

What do you like best about the course so far?
I like the real-world experience in working with live clients on their real marketing challenges.  Through the coursework, I am gaining insight into what kind of tasks I may be doing within a career in digital marketing.  I appreciate that the program focuses on practical experience over theory.

What’s your favourite app or website, and why?
My favourite website is my own, The Smalls Abroad.  I’ve learned a lot through trial and error in creating the site but most importantly it’s an archive of the past 4 years of my life living abroad.  Being far from home, the blog has been the best way to keep my family and friends up-to-date on my life and adventures overseas.

Tell us a random fact about yourself!
I have traveled to 38 countries on 5 continents, lived in 5 cities and speak 3 languages.
